Role Summary
As part of our ongoing strategy and to meet increasing project demands, Empowered is now looking to add a Senior Wireless Network Engineer to the team, to undertake the survey, design, installation and commissioning of various vendors WLAN network equipment on behalf of Empowered’s clients. These include complex RF site survey designs supporting multiple technologies, configuration of WLAN active hardware, troubleshooting and support.
Furthermore, the role is also to technically support the Empowered sales team with presales support for customer solutions. This position will manage opportunities from a technical perspective, attend customer calls and meetings, creating the solution and defining the professional services build.
The Team
This role sits in the internal Empowered engineering team and provided architectural guidance when working on bids and solution design, as well as working with the operational teams to ensure any technical aspects of the programme are defined, understood and met. The engineering team provides all in-house technical delivery skills for Empowered’s customers and partners. Engineering also provides internal support for pre-sales and opportunity development.

Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with channel partners on technical/architectural projects.
- Define requirements and create bespoke customer solutions.
- Undertake reviews and due diligence on complex technical solutions.
- Provide the technical resource for channel partners and point of reference for bid teams.
- Translate complex solutions into simple architectures.
- Work with internal teams to ensure all complex solutions are viable.
- Create and facilitate the delivery of detailed technical solution architectures, proposals and Professional Services quotes.
- Build the technical relationship with the customer during bid pursuit.
- Oversight and Governance of bids ensuring adherence to architectural principles and design rules.
- Work with internal/customer/partner teams to ensure a clean handover to operational phases of projects.
- On-site work as well as online work, including presentations, demonstrations and technology overviews.
- Conduct RF Site Survey’s using advance software tools both onsite and office based.
- Install and Commission WLAN network equipment at customer premises.
- Complete detailed RF site survey documentation to published Scope of Works using multiple customer templates.
Technology
- Wireless LAN RF Survey and designs.
- Cisco/Meraki/HP/Fortinet/Juniper/Ruckus Wireless Access Points and Wireless LAN Controllers.
- Cisco Routing and Switching / Prime.
Essential Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years’ customer facing technical presales/solutions experience and conducting pre-installation onsite RF site surveys at multiple locations in a customer-facing environment.
- At least 5 years’ experience installing and configuring WLAN products in a customer-facing environment and an excellent knowledge of WLAN technologies.
- Solid track record working within the partner environment delivering projects and services.
- The ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
- Extensive experience in the use of Ekahau and AirMagnet software tools.
- Experience in the use of RF Spectrum Analyser e.g. Metageek.
- Working primarily across Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Aerohive, Ruckus and Aruba mobility solutions.
- A current WLAN or Vendor accreditation – e.g., ECSE / CWNA.
- Degree (e.g., Computer Science) or equivalent education/experience (e.g., systems integration specialists).
- Excellent customer-facing skills and the ability to perform under pressure. Appreciation of critical timescales and the impact of delay on client perception.
- Excellent communication and customer management skills, both written and verbal. Commercially astute.
- Well organised and methodical approach to work. Structured, independent and responsible work.
- Customer satisfaction and service delivery focused.
- Experience in technical consulting in client meetings and joint development of ideas.
- Increased awareness of quality and a strong claim to their own work.
- Willingness to travel (regional and national), and potential availability outside of normal business hours. Clean driving license.
- Tenacious and able to motivate others in support of the needs of the role.
- Flexible and adaptable to new concepts and methods of working.
